As we could predict, Toyota is responding to challenges. Rav4 was the most economical crossover in the class. However, Honda matched its 40+ mpg with the CR-V and Nissan plans the same with Rogue Hybrid. The 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime is the response.
The new model is a plug-in hybrid crossover with improved outputs. Also, the PHEV system allows 2021 Rav4 Prime to run by using electric power only.
The new 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime will be based on the standard model. The powertrain for the compact crossover is a 2.5-liter unit. For the new PHEV editions, it bursts 302 hp (83 ponies more than for the standard hybrid). What’s more, the Rav4 Prime can go 29 miles by using the electric power only (Prius PHEV can do 25 miles). The combined fuel economy is 93 MPGe. The crossover speeds up to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, which is the second-best result in Toyota’s family.
2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime Styling
As said, the best-selling crossover in the US is the base for the new model. But, the Prime version is more aggressive with sport headlights and front spoiler. Also, Toyota is adding an LED vertical lamp, which is not available on other models. 19-inch wheels are standard. Exterior colors are special for the 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime, with a two-tone roof and unique red tint. The electric battery will lay under the floor. It will harm the cargo space, which offers 37.6 cubic feet.
2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime Release Date and Price
The 2021 Rav4 Prime is coming out next year. The sales start next summer. The company is not unveiling the prices, but experts predict a slight boost compared to the current Hybrid version. However, the plug-in system is costly, and we believe the Prime edition is going over $30k. We know the SE and XSE are the trim levels built on the PHEV system.
