Rivian is a new carmaker. Although without any vehicle in the production, it shows a lot of potentials. Some of the biggest brands are investing in the development of two available concepts – electric SUV and truck. The 2021 Rivian R1S could head into production soon, according to rumors.
The company teases enthusiasts every now and then. The latest render is showing the R1S SUV dressed in white paintjob. Also, we got the specs numbers and interior images. This is enough to make the first impressions about the upcoming SUV.

Class-Leading Range
There are three different battery packs announced for the 2021 Rivian R1S – 105 kWh, 135 kWh, and 180 kWh. However, the company didn’t release its specs and ranges. Experts believe that class-leading numbers will go above 410 miles with the biggest motor. On the other hand, the R1S is going to offer at least 250 miles with the entry-level pack. Tesla is a current leader in the segment, but its Model X will need a boost to compete with Rivian Electric SUV.
Just for the comparison, the R1T electric truck is using the same batteries. There, the highest range is 400 miles, but the motor creates 520 hp, which is 230 hp less than the other two configurations. However, it allows for a longer range. The mid-range battery returns 300 miles.
Spacious Interior
The new SUV will seat five or seven persons. That means in some configurations, the R1S is going to have three rows of seats. The concept has a futuristic interior, but we don’t believe it will look the same when the SUV enters production.

2021 Rivian R1S vs Lincoln Aviator Electric SUV
Lincoln Aviator had a big update recently. It became a strong hybrid, which could turn into an all-electric model pretty soon. The Rivian R1S platform will underpin the upcoming SUV. Well, it is not strange knowing the Blue Oval company have invested $500 million in Rivian shares. Besides that, billions of dollars have been spent into electrification, which resulted in the latest Mach E all-electric SUV.
