The battle among British carmakers is hotter every day. We already wrote about the new Bentayga Speed. Rolls-Royce is a class for itself. But, the new 2021 Land Rover Range Rover is taking on its compatriots stronger than ever. The new version of the full-size luxury SUV will have a surprise for its rivals.

New Platform

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover is definitely getting the electric motor. But, the question is – when. The new architecture underpins the vehicle and it supports such sources of power. The Modular Longitudinal Architecture is versatile, so it will be the same for petrol and diesel units. In the future, the MLA is going to be the base of more JLR SUVs and the Defender is a pioneer.

Hybrid

The company thinks green. Besides the electric model, engineers will also develop a hybrid system based on the new I6 mill. A pair of electric motors will be on each axle creating the powerful AWD. Outputs are still unknown, but some of these models will outpower the current best output – 557 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

According to rumors, the JLR is testing the SUV with the new V8 engine. It is a 4.4-liter bi-turbo unit from BMW. The first prototypes are spotted on the road and it seems the Range Rover is also getting a fresh look. From what we can see, suspension and exhaust systems are new.

The new version will definitely increase the price of the current edition. The base cost is above the most rivals, priced at $91,000. Top of the class version SVAutobiography exceeds $200,000. The new PHEV and EV models will be even more luxurious and more capable to compete with Bentley Bentayga and eventually Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
