The new Evoque crossover by Range Rover will definitely make some impact in a luxury crossover class. This model is already popular by itself, so every change is making the entire automotive world look at it. This time it is not about some big update on the SUV. Well, it will get some changes outside and inside. The major thing is happening under the hood. With a new kind of drivetrain, this crossover will appear as the 2019 Range Rover Evoque Mk2. Or, it will be better to say a hybrid version of the standard unit.
Info about this plug-in model is already available. At least, we know what to expect, although data is not completed. First spy shots are showing the shades of the vehicle. Details from spokesmen are informing about the drivetrain, but without serious predictions about outputs and price. The only thing that could bother enthusiasts is a delay of this model, which already was scheduled for 2018. However, with test mules on streets, Range Rover won’t fail again.
2019 Range Rover Evoque Mk2 Hybrid Engine
Back in 2016, the British company promised that few vehicles will be electrified by 2020. With it, they would step into a future world. Plug-in hybrids will take over the place in our hearts reserved for conventional models. In 2020-is, most crossovers will get partially or all-electric versions. Advantages are many, and at this moment, development is too expensive. However, it is cheaper than, let’s say, 2 or 3 years ago.
So, the drivetrain of the 2019 Range Rover Evoque Mk2 should be a 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit. This is a surprise since a 3-pot engine wasn’t in any predictions. The Evoque PHEV will start a new generation in Range Rover, and soon after it, we will see Range Rover Sport PHEV. This unit will get a boost from a 48V battery pack. Outputs are still unknown, but the compact crossover will improve numbers from its gasoline sibling.
2019 Range Rover Evoque Mk2 Release Date
A hybrid version of the small SUV was planned for 2018. However, the delay in development caused the car to be late. Not a good start, but the UK company didn’t want to come out with an unfinished model. The 2019 Range Rover Evoque Mk2 is already official, but the exact release date is not set yet. Detroit auto show will end without the premiere of this model, but experts think that the carmaker is planning to show the 2019 Evoque hybrid in New York. So, until April, Range Rover will have enough time for the final preparations.
Price and Range Rover Sport Hybrid
The luxurious compact crossover will get a price above the standard model. Evoque will cost around 30,000 pounds, which is around $40,000. Hybrid variant, the 2019 Range Rover Evoque Mk2 will boost the price for at least couple of thousand dollars.
Parallel with the new Range Rover Evoque hybrid, the company will launch the Range Rover Sport PHEV model. This will be just a part of the entire family that will go electric in next couple of years. Soon after these crossovers, we will see Velar and Discovery SUVs with plug-in drivetrains.
