Higher trims will offer a 2.5-liter, also 4-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 170 horsepower. Transmission is a 6-speed manual by default, and buyers will have a choice of an automatic gearbox or a CVT for the 2.5-liter unit. Also, there is a diesel powertrain, with more output in torque. Furthermore, a 1.6-liter unit can deliver better fuel economy numbers.
2019 X-Trail Hybrid
The plug-in system will use the base engine in combination with a 30 kW battery. The electric motor can boost the base unit for about 40 horses and 100 pound-feet of torque. However, the similar hybrid is installed on the Nissan Rogue, and users couldn’t feel that boost of twisting power. Also, the improvements in the MPG rating are not so significant. The company is advertising a fuel economy of around 34 mpg combined. After testing, experts concluded that Rogue is not even close to this number.
GT Turbo could return with 2019 Nissan X-Trail
