The MKC crossover is the smallest SUV in Lincoln family. After revisits and redesigns of other popular vehicles, now it is time for this model to get a refresh. The big redesign will include changes outside and inside the car, as well as in the mechanic room. All in all, the 2019 Lincoln MKC is coming modernized and more aggressive than before.
With the new design, this Lincoln compact SUV has found its place on our list of 2019 best new SUVs.
However, we could hear plenty of rumors about the hybrid drivetrain for 2019 MKC. Luxurious crossover offers only 4-cylinder units. But, turbochargers help them achieve massive amount for small drivetrains. A hybrid could boost power and torque further, as well as mileage. Nevertheless, it is official now that we won’t see it in 2019. Of course, the idea remains, and it is just a matter of time when will Lincoln decide to implement new technologies for MKC crossover.
In our review, we will try to present all changes which fans can expect for 2019 Lincoln MKC. Exterior will be almost the same, with some stylish changes. Interior is getting new features. We already mentioned 4-cylinder engines, and for 2019 season there are two different types. Finally, trim levels are revisited, while designers of the compact SUV will add more equipment and make it safer.
2019 Lincoln MKC No Hybrid No Problem
The current lineup of engines includes two turbocharged 4-cylinder units. These are also available on the current crossover. Although it could seem small, a 2.0-l inline-4 mill is capable to produce 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. For a compact crossover class, this is a superb result.
On the other hand, the 2019 Lincoln MKC will also offer a twin-turbo 2.3-l unit. It is more potent and can deliver 40 hp more. Also, torque level is higher, and we can expect a result over 300 pound-feet, probably 310 lb-ft. Both units are coming in pair with 6-speed automatic gearbox. This transmission routes the energy to front wheels by default. The alternative is an all-wheel drive.
V-6 and Hybrid
Although it is a small crossover, the 2019 Lincoln MKC could come with a V-6 drivetrain. This kind of engine would be capable to deliver the same amount of horsepower as turbo-fours. But, engineers decided not to go with this unit due to its higher consumption of fuel and few other things, such as size and weight.
A Hybrid was also an option for Lincoln MKC. But, for now, we are not going to see it. The plan of the carmaker is to electrify all their vehicles by 2022. But, so far we can find only MKZ plug-in. Although rumors seem to be so confident, in 2019, MKC will come without hybrid version. Well, all gossips reported about Navigator, so it is hard to believe that Lincoln will launch small crossover in plug-in variant before its flagship model.
2019 Lincoln MKC Refresh and Exterior Changes
The overall size of the 2019 Lincoln MKC will be the same as for its predecessor. On the other hand, the new crossover will bring many changes to a redesign. A rectangular mesh grille, which we could see on Continental replaces the old one. Also, the rear fascia is going to present new details. The license plate position is higher, while the top edge has a chrome line.
Interior
The highlight of the 2019 MKC will be a new infotainment system. It will use the latest Sync3, with compatibility to pair it with Android and Apple smart devices. Designers paid a lot of attention to details, and 2019 Lincoln MKC will be richer with stylish accents. Furthermore, the safety is on the higher level.
Trim Levels and Options
The upcoming 2019 Lincoln MKC is coming with a lot of helping features. The driver gets an aid from park assist system with sensors and a rearview camera. Also, there are lane departure warning and collision alert. For the crossover, designers prepared three themes. Every one of these will bring novelties and unique styling. Buyers of the luxurious SUV will choose between Modern Heritage, Indulgence and Center Stage designs of the cabin.
2019 Lincoln MKC Release Date and Price
The premiere of the 2019 Lincoln MKC is expected in first few months of 2018. However, the appearance in dealerships will come two or three months later. Nevertheless, this crossover will roll out before 2019. The price of luxurious SUV will be around $35,000 for base trim. This is an increase of about $1,500 compared to current model.
Competition
The compact crossover class is popular and there are more buyers of these vehicles every year. But, the luxury class is something special. While standard segment could see changes and new models, in high-end there are few models established as leaders. The 2019 MKC is one of them, but it shares the market with Caddy XT5 and Buick Encore at the first place. However, there are European rivals, BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40. With this redesign, MKC will be a step ahead of others.
