The 2021 Kia Seltos will surprisingly appear in the US. The Korean company introduced this crossover a few months ago in India. Since these two markets are usually offering different models, we didn’t see the Seltos coming to the United States. However, now it is official, and we have the first details about the new vehicle.
The highlights of the new crossover by KIA is a very attractive price and two engines. Of course, the fresh offer will also bring an attractive warranty. Still, a lot of questions are still open. The company said the 2021 Seltos is spacious, but precise numbers are missing both for cargo space and fuel economy.
2021 Kia Seltos Engines
The 2021 Seltos will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant rated at 146 horsepower. This is more than subcompact crossovers are delivering, so the new model could settle between Sportage and Soul. The company also let us know which trim levels will offer the base engine – LX, S, and EX. The top of the class unit is SX, and this one is going to offer a 1.6-liter turbo unit with 175 horsepower. All-wheel drive and a seven-pace DCT automatic gearbox are standard here.
Trim Levels
By accident or not, we already have trim levels available for the new 2021 Kia Seltos. The base offer, like for most of the lineup, starts with the LX. The starting price is slightly higher, at $22,000. Sportage costs $24,000 and the lower-tier Soul is available for $17,500. S and EX are the mid-range offer. We believe these two will cost between $24-25k. The SX, with an engine that produces extra power, will have a price of $27,000 and higher.
Release Date
The 2021 Kia Seltos is not available for purchase yet. The company announced the new model, but the dealerships won’t see the crossover before the second half of 2020. Still, fans will get more updates at other upcoming car shows (NY, Chicago, Detroit).
