The new generation also brings cosmetic modifications. The completely new front fascia is there. The new crossover looks much more aggressive. Lower grille with a new design is the highlight of the new styling language. Also, narrow headlights are eye-catching. There are also many noteworthy updates on the side and the back of the vehicle. Under the hood drivetrains are the same. The 2020 Kia Soul EV gets more miles from an electric battery. One of the main advantages of this crossover is its base price. In 2020 the cheapest model will cost under $18,000.
2020 Kia Soul Dimensions, Cargo Space
The new 2020 Kia Soul is larger than before. However, the vehicle still belongs to a subcompact class. Now, the crossover is 165.2 inches long. That is 2.2 inches more than before. Also, the wheelbase is extended to 102.4 inches. Width and height are the same as before. Converted to interior space, the new 2020 Soul will offer 5 cubic feet more than the outgoing model. Total cargo space is nearly 24 cubic ft. Well, the headroom and legroom are tighter, but we doubt you will notice a change of 0.2 inches.
New Colors
The next-gen vehicle brings more color options. Depending on a trim level, you will have a choice between three and 11 paints. Some of them are also dual layouts. Top of the class GT-Line Turbo comes with five exterior colors: Black, White, Grey, Blue, and Red. The most options offer EX trim. It adds yellow, green, silver, platinum gold, and the combination of this paint with either grey or white. Interior is black for all models, except the S version that also offers silver layout. 2020 Kia Soul Specs and Turbo Engine
Under the bonnet of the new 2020 Soul are the same drivetrains as before. The Korean company had no need to change its reliable units. The base model is using a 2.0-liter displacement. A four-cylinder engine is capable to produce 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. That is less than in 2019. However, engineers boosted the fuel economy. The new crossover returns 30 mpg combined. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Soul S and upper trims use Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). A seven-speed automatic gearbox is available only for 2020 Kia Soul Turbo.
GT-Line Turbo model is the only one that uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It is producing 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The crossover keeps an excellent fuel economy numbers – 29 mpg combined. Although it is not official yet, the new 2020 Kia Soul all-wheel drive system will be available for the first time. We believe that the turbo model is getting it first. The company announced AWD as optional mode, but chiefs were not precise which engine will use it.
X-Line and GT-Line Accessories
GT-Line Turbo is the most expensive model in the lineup. It adds $5,000 over the EX version. But, for that money, buyers are getting a turbo engine, premium audio system, and smart features. Standard GT-Line model comes with red accents on the exterior and 18-inch wheels. Inside, the 7-inch screen shows a rear-camera view, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto being standard. X-Line comes with unique two-tone paints, black accents, and unique wheels.
2020 Kia Soul EV Range and Price
While most of the details for the conventional model are already available, info about the all-electric SUV price will be announced later. The new battery added a significant boost. Currently, Soul can go 111 miles. This system produces 110 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. The new 2020 Kia Soul EV will boost everything – range, horsepower, and twist. An AC synchronous permanent magnet motor with 64 kWh battery can produce 200 hp and 290 pound-feet. The range is not available yet. But, we believe the company aims 250 miles, although they announced earlier the new Soul EV will go 243 miles. With such significant changes, we can’t estimate the price. Some sources say the EV will cost around $35,000.
2020 Kia Soul Price
The base LX version of the 2020 Kia Soul will come with a price tag of just $17,500. This is one of the best offers on the market currently. However, the standard equipment is not so exciting. To boost your ride, you will have to pay over $20,000 for S or GT-Line model. The X-Line costs $21,500 without upgrades, while the EX, with navigation and a 10-inch display, adds another grand. The most expensive offer is GT-Line Turbo. This one costs $27,500. The only version that comes with a higher price is EV.
