Las Vegas 2018 Consumer Electronics Show is getting a new star. The 2019 Kia Niro EV is set to debut in Nevada after a year since the concept was announced. Now, we will see the first images of the vehicle. So far, there were only renderings from shadows, so fans couldn’t conclude how will it look like. Besides that, we will find out what is under its hood, the range of an electric car, and the drive mode it offers.
The Niro EV is still a concept that will show us what to expect from the production car for 2019 season. Nevertheless, its base model, whose name it carries, drew attention with its styling and drive system. Besides the standard offer, this crossover is coming as a hybrid vehicle. Now, with 2019 Kia Niro EV, the Korean manufacturer goes all-electric. This is a logical step since we will see more and more vehicles of this kind in following years.
2019 Kia Niro EV Drivetrain Review, Specs, AWD
Kai is not going to look for ideas in its yard. They will go over the fence, to see what its neighbor from South Korea is doing. There, engineers will find the Hyundai Ioniq, a vehicle that already uses an all-electric source of power. This is going to be the competitor and the matrix for 2019 Kia Niro EV.
Range
So, what will Kia try to do? First of all, Ioniq has a battery pack that produces 118 horses and 215 pound-feet of torque. Also, it can run 125 miles without recharging. These are numbers 2019 Niro EV will try to beat. But, there is also a Bolt EV model from Chevrolet, with a range of 240 miles. It will be hard to top this number. Even if the 2019 Kia Niro EV does it, that will affect the cost of the SUV.
2019 Kia Niro EV Concept Styling
Teasers are not showing too much to us. Neither do spy shots. We have to be patient for few more days to see what could 2019 Kia Niro EV look like. Nevertheless, the 2018 CES in Vegas is not going to present the production crossover.
First info about the new Niro EV suggested that the all-electric car will use a shell and styling of its hybrid sibling. On the other hand, some rumors reported about the futuristic and more aggressive design. We are definitely seeing a special lighting system at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. However, we are not sure if these will be part of the model we will see on streets next year.
Interior and Spy Shots
In 2017 Kia tested its new crossover. However, spy shots couldn’t unveil too many details. But, leaked sources can confirm that major things are happening inside the cabin. The 2019 Kia Niro EV is going to use a human-machine interface that we had no chance to see elsewhere. It is also going to be interesting to learn how will this company assembly new electric system and futuristic interior in one vehicle. Some parts of the Kia Sportage would be useful. However, Niro is subcompact crossover, and it is impossible to see many features from its bigger sibling in such vehicle.
