After many delays, the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer is finally coming. However, we hope that company is not going to cancel and prolong it again. The crossover was discontinued in 1991. After 20 years, stories of its return got an official statement. The carmaker spokesman Sergio Marchionne confirmed that Wagoneer is coming back. But after a delay in 2013, we saw two more in next couple of years. Finally, in 2016, Chrysler released teaser photos of the SUV and announced debut for this year and production for 2019.
Restoration of the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer is not so simple. Bringing back the old model is not as easy as it seems. Crossovers are not what they used to be in 80’s and 90’s. The new SUV must be modern, functional, fuel-friendly, but still has to keep its heritage. Also, there are market values and predictions as keys for successful production.
2019 Jeep Wagoneer Concept
Upcoming 2019 Jeep Wagoneer will be based on the current Dodge Durango. We still don’t know details, but besides some styling solutions, the crossover could borrow the drivetrain. Also, the new Wagoneer will share many parts with its sibling, Jeep Grand Cherokee. So, it is likely that Jeep will use a 3.6-liter drivetrain as the main unit, and 5.7-liter as an alternative.
Jeep Wagoneer Specs
So, the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer will be able to create 290 horses and 260 lb-ft of torque with the base V-6 drivetrain. We still wait to learn if the engine is going to use a 6-speed or a new 8-pace transmission. Whatsoever, both of them are automatic. While there won’t be manual gearbox, the company will offer drives on two and four wheels.
As an alternative, the 2019 Wagoneer could get a 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi powertrain. This engine is good for 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Both Durango and Grand Cherokee are using it. With a bigger displacement, Wagoneer will achieve higher outputs for energy and torque, but it is going to cost it on fuel economy rating.
2019 Jeep Wagoneer Diesel
Buyers in the US will probably have a chance to buy 2019 Jeep Wagoneer Diesel crossover. Chrysler could install a 3.0-liter CRD V-6 engine as the final option. Due to strict emission standards, this unit will create 190 hp and 320 pound-feet of torque. Whatsoever, the same unit can make 50 horses and 100 lb-ft more in other countries. Especially buyers in Australia are interested in new Wagoneer.
2019 Jeep Wagoneer Accessories and Styling
The 2019 Jeep Wagoneer will combine elements from Dodge Durango and its closest sibling Grand Cherokee. However, it is not going to be just a hybrid made of elements from other crossovers. Wagoneer will have its unique panels, shape, and interior equipment.
The cabin of the SUV is more predictable. The company has its patterns and it is just matter of designers’ imagination how the new Jeep Wagoneer will look like. Standard accessories of Durango and Cherokee will be there, while upper trims bring more excitement.
2019 Jeep Wagoneer Launch Details
If Chrysler doesn’t trick us again, we should see the debut of 2019 Jeep Wagoneer by the end of the year. Auto Show in LA seems to be a perfect place for the return of famous crossover. However, the SUV could also be launched in Australia and the UK. Buyers in these countries are showing interest in Wagoneer, and it won’t be a surprise to see the crossover in right-hand drive variant.
