Fans of the Infiniti QX80 are ready for the new generation. The facelift from 2017 is already fading, and the big SUV needs another refreshment. This time, it will be the new generation. The 2020 Infiniti QX80 will use more features from recently premiered Monograph concept. Well, the company stated that is the platform for future big SUVs. It looks production-ready, and all we need to see is how far designers will go with implementing its features for QX80.

Besides the new look, the upcoming SUV is going to offer the new interior layout. Still, the 2020 Infiniti QX80 will keep eight seating spots. A revisit should create more space for passengers in the third row. By using the new platform, we expect the SUV to grow. Its dimensions will grow and the new concept will make the QX80 more spacious. There are no doubts that the latest infotainment system will offer a lot of premium features. InTouch is heading into a new generation. That is another reason why we are eagerly waiting for the premiere of this vehicle.

The engine choice remains unchanged, with only one V8 available for the upcoming QX80. Some sources say that the company could add V6 unit, but this is only a rumor. Also, we expect the SUV to bring a hybrid model. Again, time is ticking away for the 2020 Infiniti QX80. If Nissan, as the parent company, didn’t announce it yet, we doubt hybrid will be ready for 2020 season.

2020 Infiniti QX80 Redesign

The next-gen of the big SUV will bring a lot of changes. The redesign will modify front and rear fascia. A new grille and sportier bumpers will make the 2020 Infiniti QX80 more aggressive. The SUV could get an inch of extra ground clearance compared to the current model. Headlights of the Monograph concept will be in use. The same thing is happening at the back. Taillights, bumper, rear windows are new. With these changes, QX80 gets younger and the SUV should attract more buyers of any age.

What is Monograph Concept?

As we said, the Monograph Concept will underpin the new design of the 2020 Infiniti QX80. The platform debuted in 2017 and we expected the first SUV to use more of its features already. However, the next-gen QX80 is the one to use all its advantages.

The concept should combine utility and luxury. Well, we can’t expect the same vehicle on streets like the one we saw in New York a couple of years ago. But, features such as human-eye headlights and sharp D-pillars will definitely be eye-catching and very functional increasing overall safety. The double arch grille is larger than any other Infiniti is currently using. On the other hand, we doubt that the production version of this concept is going to use 26-inch wheels.

Visitors of the NY Auto Show couldn’t peek into the new vehicle. However, we are sure it will bring even more features than the existing QX80. The next generation of the vehicle will get more space, keeping an eight-passenger layout. The new concept will increase overall dimensions and designers will use it to create room for passengers and cargo. Safety and comfort are not in doubt. Numerous features will boost both these sections.

New Generation of InTouch Infotainment System

One of the major lacks of the QX80 was its infotainment system. But, all the next-gen vehicles by Infiniti will get a new InTouch system. First of all, there will be a larger screen at the center of the dashboard. Then, Infiniti is finally adding Apple CarPlay. This is confirmed, while we are waiting for further info about the Android Auto. The look of the entire new infotainment system is described as state of art. So, we must expect big.

Specs and Towing Capacity

The power unit for the 2020 Infiniti QX80 remains a huge 5.6-liter V8 engine. It is durable and reliable and the drivetrain produces 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Of course, this model is not too fuel friendly with the return of just 16 mpg combined. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while the AWD remains optional. It costs around $3,000 and it also consumes more fuel. The strong side of such energy is excellent towing capacity. The new QX80 will be able to haul over 8,500 pounds.

Implementing the Monograph concept to the 2020 Infiniti QX80 is not an easy task. Designers must keep their focus not to make it too expensive. Numerous features and parts will definitely make the price jump. Currently, the AWD version is available for $70k. The next-generation of the Infiniti QX80 will add up to $5,000.

We expect to see the new 2020 Infiniti QX80 by the end of this year. Sales will start early next season, and the premiere of the big SUV could happen in New York. There, the Monograph concept debuted back in 2017. Now, it will be cool to see its production version at the same place. Well, we want to see the QX80 as soon as possible, and we hope the vehicle is going to be ready for a preview.
