The South Korean firm Genesis Motors that is a division of the automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor Group wants to expand its portfolio with the new full-size SUV model 2019 Genesis GV80. This model is the first SUV that will come from this manufacturer.
There is also a future plan to add few more crossovers in its lineup. However, in the last couple of years, this popular Company is launched only sedan models G70, G80 and G90.
2019 Genesis GV80 – Futuristic Look
The upcoming 2019 Genesis GV80 will not much different from the concept model. The changes are evident in the bumper that now gets a more conventional design. Furthermore, the grill will be also replaced with bigger one and taillights will now get twin-stripe that will give a high dose of luxuries. The most attraction will give added sculpted dent above the side skirt just like in the supercars Dodge Viper and Shelby Cobra.
There will be also changes in the interior. We expected comfortable, high-quality and luxury cabin for all 5 passengers. The crossover interior will be stylish and modern. Furthermore, the dashboard will sport a premium look with the 22-inch display gorilla glass touchscreen with two distinct areas at the center. As in the Concept model, we also expect aluminum and chrome details, multi-function steering wheel, fancy door leather panels and digital instrument cluster.
The rear of the SUV will provide plenty of legroom and headroom in order to compete with the other SUVs. We also expect in the future new interior colors. The concept model we are seeing at the auto show has only orange/ gray color.
2019 Genesis GV80 – Engine and Specifications
There are some rumors that 2019 Genesis GV80 SUV will come powered with advanced plug-in hydrogen fuel cell that will give more than 350 miles. The 5.0-liter V-8 engine will be ideal options. But if we rely on sedan versions the new model will get few engine variants. The first expected is a 3.8-liter V6 engine with variable intake system, air-gap exhaust, two-stage oil pump and the triangular fuel injector pattern.
The new SUV will push the solid performance of 311 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 293 pound-feet of torque. The other one and range-topping is the powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine. It generates around 420 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. This model will carry badge Sport.
It comes with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive will be standard. However, you can choose optional all-wheel-drive system.
2019 Genesis GV80 – MSRP and Launch Date
At this moment there is no official release date and price for the 2019 Genesis GV80. But if we look at some similar model’s price like the Mercedes-Benz GLS that is priced from $69,000 or the Cadillac Escalade with starting price of $74,500, we think that the new Genesis GV80 SUV will come with the price of around $65,000 or more. One more SUV that will be the true contender for this model is the upcoming BMW X7. We expected this model to debut sometime in 2018.
