The 2020 Honda HR-V will get minor changes before the next model launches the new generation. The subcompact crossover is versatile and offers everything we want from such a vehicle. Lack of interior space HR-V is making up with great handling. It is not too powerful, but the crossover is a budget-friendly model with superb fuel economy. It is available worldwide. For the next season, cosmetic changes are not big. Under the hood will lay the same engine. The greatest novice could be a hybrid drivetrain. But, its bigger and more popular sibling CR-V should get it first.
Sales in the US are growing ever since the HR-V entered the market with its second generation. Well, the first edition of the subcompact vehicle was discontinued in 2006 and after the 10-year break, it returned with the same idea but different styling. The crossover is more aggressive and comfortable. Low emissions and high gas mileage are two things Honda focuses on when building a new 2020 Honda HR-V.
Drivetrain Specs
The 2020 Honda HR-V will offer a single engine, like its predecessor. It is a not too powerful, but very durable four-cylinder unit. A 1.8-liter displacement is ready to produce 140 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. It is a respectable output for the subcompact segment. The energy flies through a recently updated CVT gearbox. It sends the power to front wheels. One of the advantages of the HR-V is and all-wheel drive. While some other subcompact crossovers are not using this setup, Honda’s is one of the best in the class. Well, you won’t find the HR-V a good off-roader, but it performs great in snow and sand. The extra ground clearance will allow some off-road adventures. But, if you are an adrenalin addict, you should check out some larger SUVs.
2020 Honda HR-V Hybrid USA
Definitely, CR-V compact crossover SUV is the more popular vehicle. It maintains an excellent fuel economy but offers more space and more power. That is why this model is a priority to get a hybrid drivetrain. Still, the smaller sibling is also seeking to be greener and fuel-friendlier. If the company delivers 2020 Honda HR-V, expect the same 1.8-l engine to burst extra power as well. Currently, combined fuel economy is 30 mpg (FWD) and 29 mpg (AWD), while the peak is on the highway when HR-V returns 35 mpg. Hybrid drivetrain could launch the gas mileage to 35 mpg combined.
2020 Honda HR-V Turbo Rumors
The new crossover could get turbochargers instead of an electric drivetrain. For a long time, buyers are asking about the possibility of 2020 Honda HR-V Turbo. Well, its larger brother, Honda CR-V is getting power from 1.5-liter turbo-four engine. This one is good for 190 hp and we believe it could fit the subcompact class. Small crossover in the premium class, Acura RDX is offering 270 hp from its turbo unit. So, it is possible, but the company still needs to confirm these rumors.

Well, a hybrid engine could turn the situation, as well as the turbo engine. Still, fans will know more when the new 2020 Honda HR-V hits the market late this year. With no big changes, the crossover will keep the pricing of the entire fleet at the same level. The MSRP of the base LX version is $20,000, Sport adds $2,000, and EX around $3,000.
