The 2020 GMC Yukon Denali is going to be one of the most exclusive full-size SUVs in a non-premium segment. Denali badge is well known for its luxury and comfort. This time, GMC will add some more features to refresh the look. Well, the entire Yukon family is taking a refresh after 2015, when it entered the new generation. This SUV is a twin brother to Chevy Tahoe, which will get the new independent rear suspension. Of course, its GMC sibling will follow.
Besides the mechanical tuning, the new 2020 GMC Yukon Denali will bring the latest infotainment system and features. The ride must be cozy, fun, and safe. These are the priorities for the next edition. Improvements will cement SUVs place as one of the most luxurious non-luxury models. The new Denali edition will have the same sizes as its predecessor. Three rows and seven, or eight-seat layout will be enough for larger families and comfortable long trips.
2020 GMC Yukon Denali Specs
The new 2020 GMC Yukon Denali will continue to use the same 6.2-liter engine as before. This is the largest petrol unit for all General Motors vehicles. One of the most reliable drivetrains will develop 420 hp and 460pound-feet of torque. Buyers can choose between 2WD and 4WD models. Fuel economy of both configurations will get a slight boost thanks to the lighter body. Still, the full-size model is far away from fuel-friendly vehicles with combined gas mileage around 18 mpg (2WD) and 17 mpg (AWD).
The new Yukon Denali SUV with a 6.2 V8 engine will need 5.7 seconds for 0-60 mph sprint. The vehicle also spends 14 seconds for a quarter-mile run. Top speed of the SUV is 130 mph. The huge outputs will help this SUV tow 7,100 lbs (standard equipment), and up to 8,500 pounds (with Trailering Package).
What Makes Denali Models So Special?
The list of features makes the base SUV pretty impressive. And Denali trim raises the game to another level. Many things that are optional or not available for other versions are standard here. Besides that, the 2020 GMC Yukon Denali will also offer extra options to upgrade infotainment, comfort, or specs.
Alert system is improving overall safety. Rear vision camera is standard even for lower-level models. Denali adds lane keep and departure assist which is optional for SLT, and side blind zone warning (standard only for this trim). Bose audio system is raised to another level with surround sound. Wireless charging is there, while the rear-seat entertaining system is an upgrade available for $2,000.
Exterior features are also stunning. Hands-free power liftgate replaces manual and standard power liftgate. Automatic headlights are also there (IntelliBeam). Mirrors are with heating. 20-inch tires come standard, and buyers can pick up 22-inchers.
Depending on a configuration, the 2020 GMC Yukon Denali can offer either eight or seven seats. The base layout is eight. But, if you choose the captain’s chairs for the middle row, it cuts one seating spot. Either way, there is enough room for all passengers in both rear rows.
2020 GMC Yukon Denali and Denali XL Dimensions
Buyers of the premium 2020 GMC Yukon Denali SUV can choose between the standard and extended wheelbase. There is, of course, the difference in dimensions and volumes. Larger XL vehicle adds 14 inches for wheelbase and 20 inches in overall length. This further reflects in more space inside the cockpit. The second row gets nearly one more inch for legs, and third row 10 inches! Well, 2020 GMC Yukon XL Denali will be slightly lower than the standard model. Cargo volume gains 24 cubic feet, jumping from 15 to 39 cu-ft. With the third row folded, the capacity raises to 77 cubic feet, while you can count on 122 cubic feet behind the first row.
Competition
The 2020 GMC Yukon Denali will be so dominant. It is hard to find a rival for this SUV in the non-premium class. We can say that is the Platinum model of the Ford Expedition. Still, the Denali model is still a lighter version of the Cadillac Escalade, so we can’t compare it to Toyota Land Cruiser, Lincoln Navigator, or Infiniti QX80. Extended version, Yukon XL Denali offers another option, which Nissan and Toyota are not offering. Ford Expedition MAX is a rival in this segment.
