The price of the new GV80 SUV is an even greater mystery. We don’t know what does the company plans with it. Rumors about the new vehicle that will rival Land Cruiser could give us lead. But, to start its career in the premium segment with the most expensive model, is just crazy. Toyota’s vehicle costs $85,000. Well, the GV80 could start at a lower price, while the upper trim levels could reach this mark. Another detail we must wait to become official.

We already mentioned that the rear end of the 2020 Genesis GV80 is extended. That means the SUV could be a three-row model. Latest news from Hyundai is backing up these speculations. As such, the GV80 will offer seven or eight seats. Well, sloping roof tells everyone that passengers in the last row won’t have as much headroom as these in front of them.
As a luxury SUV, the GV80 will have to raise everything we can see in Hyundai’s siblings to the next level. Premium materials for seats, dashboard, and upholstery are required. The 2020 Genesis GV80 will share the drivetrains with its stablemates with Hyundai badge. Experts are sure that the 3.8-liter engine is going to be the base choice. The output of this powertrain depends on setup and we can see other Genesis models delivering 300-350 hp and 290-300 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It should be available through the entire lineup. Rear- and all-wheel are options for drive mode.
More power comes from a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6. This time around, owners of the SUV will count on more than 350 hp. The same engine is an alternative in Genesis G80 sedan. Well, these two vehicles will share a lot of things. Total torque for this unit is 375 lb-ft.
Finally, top of the class models will use a 5.0-liter V8 engine. With 383 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, the 2020 Genesis GV80 can definitely call itself a competitor of the Land Cruiser. Toyota’s premium SUV can deliver 381 hp and 400 lb-ft from its 5.7-l V8 engine. Fuel economy is also on Genesis’ side since the V8 engine returns 18/23 mpg in a sedan. Of course, the SUV will be heavier, but it is not going to harm the gas mileage. Land Cruiser will definitely consume much more fuel. It returns 13/18 mpg. Still, we will see if GV80 can match LC’s off-road skills.
