Genesis is the premium brand owned by Hyundai. The Korean carmaker is expanding its lineup. After the Palisade SUV, it is turn for premium models. The 2020 Genesis GV80 spy photos are unveiling the crossover SUV, which will come in pair with its smaller sibling, GV70.
The new model is based on the platform we saw a couple of years ago. Back then, the GV80 was supposed to get a fuel cell. However, the company will deliver the new crossover SUV with the conventional source of power, since we cannot see any openings on the body.
2020 Genesis GV80 vs G80 Sedan Specs
Previously, experts believed the 2020 Genesis GV80 will use the same engines as its sibling from the sedan category. However, the latest news is saying smaller units are currently in the play. Instead of a high-output V8 or V6 units, the new crossover SUV comes with a 2.5-liter turbo-four, a 3.5-liter V6, or a diesel mill.
2020 Genesis GV80 Release Date
Hyundai plans to add six new models by 2021. The first of them is not the 2020 Genesis GV80, but the GV70. This one will belong to the compact class, while the GV80 could be slightly bigger. We cannot estimate the sizes of two crossovers since these showed up in separate events. All in all, Hyundai and Genesis are bringing fun to the premium class in 2020. Still, the release date is still not set.
While there are no similarities between 2020 Genesis GV80 and G80 sedan under the hood, the interiors can be pretty much the same. The car is very loaded with features and owners are praising the company for their efforts. The SUV class is specific and buyers are more demanding. Still, we believe the company will manage to craft the perfect balance between luxury, elegance, and utility.
