A few days ago, we found out about the new gearbox for the upcoming 2021 Bronco. Today, spy photos of the SUV leaked with interesting details. The roof of the vehicle reminds us of Jeep Wrangler. Are we getting a new rivalry in the off-road segment? The company is bringing the new SUV to the largest stage – NAIAS 2020, where fans will get the complete info about the upcoming Bronco. Meanwhile, we will try to find out more details about the iconic model and its comeback.
We already wrote a few times about the 2021 Bronco. These are not the first spy photos since some images were claimed to be the Baby Bronco – the off-road version of the bigger sibling. Also, we were writing about the two- and four-door configuration, and now everything is getting sense. The bigger Bronco will take on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, while the Baby Bronco is a rival to the two-door Wrangler.
Specs are Still Unknown
Ford is surprising us every now and then. Well, all their major debuts came with special units under the hood. A few years ago that happened with Mustang. Then, the F-150 truck brought a diesel unit. Now, it is time for the flagship SUV to make an entrance in style. A 2.3-liter turbo-four and a 3.5-liter V6 are definitely going to be part of the lineup, but the special configuration will probably refresh the fleet.
Since Ford is working on electrification, do not be surprised if the 2021 Bronco appears with the all-electric drivetrain. The Mach E concept is ready and the famous SUV is a perfect chance for this kind of drivetrain to debut. Well, this one is not entering production next season, so it is likely to see some lighter hybrid powerplant. Again, we see the same move by the FCA and Wrangler, which will arrive with the PHEV setup by the end of this season.
