Rumors are becoming a reality. Full-size SUVs by General Motors are going into a new generation. Now, there are more clues that will confirm we can expect big things from 2020 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, and GMC Yukon. Well, this is not confirmed yet, but there are many hints indicating this is happening.
Over a year ago the first new models were spotted under the heavy camo. We could recognize the independent rear suspension on test mules. Now, the whole squad came out together, but with slight changes and near-production details. Finally, while unveiling its new Silverado HD truck, GM showed the entire full-size SUV lineup. Well, Tahoe, Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade were under covers. But, mentioning SUVs at the premiere of other category means that General Motors means business.
So, what will be new for the 2020 Chevy Tahoe and the rest of the lineup? Fresh design and IRS are certain. For all other details, we must wait for the debut. There are some speculations about the infotainment and safety updates. However, these are still rumors. The existing engine lineup will remain the same. We believe that the new Chevrolet Tahoe is getting a Duramax diesel engine as well. But, let us see it under the hood of Silverado truck first.
2020 Chevy Tahoe Redesign Concept
The arrival of the new Ford Bronco caused panic among other carmakers. Well, every year we have some debut, but this one caused a lot of interest ever since it became official. Nevertheless, the main thing is that Ford is still keeping all details as secret. So, we don’t know size, or position of the new Bronco. One thing is sure – it will sell easily.
Having this in mind, GM, as the main rival, had to respond. Bronco is not going to be the full-size model for sure. But, Chevrolet will have more chances beating its archrival in this class with a new SUV. Tahoe and GMC Yukon will be redesigned to offer maximum comfort and safety in the drive. Also, these vehicles, also called GM Twins, will come in style. The 2020 Chevy Tahoe redesign will introduce new front and rear fascia. We can spot only pieces of the new concept behind the heavy camouflage. The latest spy photos are showing taillights that are ready for production.
Fresh Colors, 2-Door Concept
The company will definitely update the trim level for the upcoming SUV. Besides the standard offer, two models are causing a lot of interest. Z71 and RST should be the most thrilling vehicles in the lineup. The first one should be an all-terrain oriented version. The new independent rear suspension will definitely help drivers in off-road adventures. Of course, there will be even more cosmetic additions for every particular package.
One of them is the 2020 Chevy Tahoe 2-door concept. We cannot see it yet, but some sources are trying to find clues for this story. The arrival of the Bronco, legendary 2-door SUV, which is not going to use such layout anymore, could be one of the reasons for such a move. On the other hand, the company wants to launch a model that is more towing-oriented. With a two-door configuration, Tahoe would have more space for other upgrades.
All trim levels will have a palette of base colors. Currently, there are seven paints in the offer. Depending on a model, there will be two or three extra paintjobs for the new 2020 Chevy Tahoe.
2020 Chevy Tahoe Specs, Diesel
Under the hood of the full-size SUV will be the biggest V8 engines GM can offer. These are 5.3-liter and 6.2-l drivetrains that can produce 355 hp or 420 hp. Both engines are using an eight-speed automatic transmission as a power router. The smaller displacement will add 385, and the bigger one 460 pound-feet of torque. The towing capacity of the 2020 Chevy Tahoe will be 8,100 pounds. A 5.3 engine can haul 6,500 lbs.
Tahoe will use the same body-on-frame platform as the Silverado 1500 full-size pickup truck. That means, the architecture can handle the power and torque of a Duramax diesel engine. Silverado is getting a 3.0-liter turbodiesel unit that is capable to produce 280 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Well, the truck is waiting for EPA’s green light to launch this version. The SUV lineup will also get the same drivetrain. A boost of the towing capacity and fuel economy will cost probably about $4,000.
How Much Will The 2020 Chevy Tahoe Cost?
The base model will come with the price tag above $50k. With some additions, the 2020 Chevy Tahoe will hit the premium cost of $70,000. Premier Plus Package, 6.2 engine, and AWD will make the price go up to $80,000. We mentioned the Z71 off-road suite. It will cost around $2,000 for the LT trim level. This configuration, with Luxury set that includes keyless functions and various alerts, will cost more than $60k.
