The 5.3-liter V8 engine with high-tech fuel injection is preset to enhances its fuel economy that is 16/23 mpg for the (2WD) and 16/22 mpg for the (4WD). It produces 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. This type of engine will be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that is smooth and seamless. Furthermore, this model of the engine also features Active Cylinder Management. This system is there to shut off half the cylinders under steady cruise and make savings on fuel.
The optional Tahoe RST performance version comes with a powertrain that will give more power to the 6.2-liter V8 engine. This one will give amazing 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. However, this special edition of the engine will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that also comes in the Cadillac Escalade. The fuel economy in city/highway is 15/22 mpg (2WD) and 15/20 mpg (4WD).
2019 Chevy Tahoe Special Midnight Edition
The new Chevrolet Tahoe will introduce a custom-made Midnight Edition. In this version of the full-size SUV, we will see a shadow black color all over the vehicle. However, the interior is not offering space for more than five passengers. But, on the other hand, that increases cargo space to 112 cubic feet with all seats folded. The regular layout offers 54 cubic feet.
The exterior is also customized with 18-inch wheels. Of course, these are also painted in black. The darkened grille and side steps are unusual for regular 2019 Chevy Tahoe. Under the hood is the same 5.3-liter V-8 unit with same drive options and gearbox.
2019 Chevy Tahoe Cost, Release Date and Rivals
The upcoming model 2019 Chevy Tahoe is not pocket-friendly. It comes with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of around $48,500. The price for LT version is just above $53,000. However, if you want Tahoe RST special edition, then you must set aside $78,000.
The new Custom Tahoe edition allows a lot of custom changes on the model. So, for example, you can configure 2-row 5-passengers Tahoe and with this modification, the price will be reduced for more than $3,500.
The price also includes $1,295 destination charge. It will go into production in 2018, and we expect a release date sometime in the beginning of 2019. This model will compete with Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia and Ford Expedition.
