The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is the next-gen model that will arrive with an all-electric unit. General Motors is serious about this SUV. we can already read rumors about the electric Hummer comeback, and now more models are involved in these rumors mill.
The XT5 is overtaking the flagship position from the Escalade. However, the longest-serving nameplate in the class is still the most important unit. Next season will bring its new generation. Meanwhile, the XT5 will be developed to replace the existing model. It won’t be easy, but there are already a few options.

Rumor #1: 2022 Cadillac XT5 is EV
This is not unlikely. The mid-size SUV misses the hybrid unit. Its main rivals are enhancing their drivetrains with such configurations. GM is going to skip this step and go to the all-electric version right away. This is not the first time we are reading about these plans since the speculations about the Hummer comeback brought the same info. Whatsoever, the company is not confirming details yet.
Rumor #2: New Name
Cadillac is also considering a new nomenclature for most of its products. Sedans and SUVs are available in the alphanumeric acronyms (CT and XT). The company will start using more recognizable names like Lincoln did with their MK- lineup. For both companies, only full-size SUVs had a different title.
Either way, the 2022 Cadillac XT5 will also come with numerous changes around the vehicle. The Interior and exterior will suffer a redesign and the new generation will make the SUV interesting to buyers again.

Rumor #3: 2022 Cadillac XT5 Gets Autonomous Drive
General Motors will start developing self-driving features to catch up with Tesla. But, a few other carmakers announced higher levels of autonomous drive, so Level 2 won’t be enough in 2022. Still, any kind of these systems will be welcome for the company. The GM is struggling in all segments and hybridization with more advanced features is a top priority. The autonomous drive would save the situation for a while.
