We’ve been waiting for the Cadillac XT4 concept to get into production. Some fans thought it could happen in 2018, but with the recent spy pictures, we doubt it. However, the spied vehicle seems to be in an advanced phase of development, so the SUV could arrive as the 2019 Cadillac XT4. Also, the latest reports from the company are talking about the smaller model than XT5. That one could compete BMW X1 and Audi Q3 in the compact segment of crossovers.
Heavy camo is covering the most of the body of 2019 Cadillac XT4. However, the SUV is going to borrow some design solutions from its bigger siblings. Caddy XT5 and full-size Escalade are already well-known names in the car industry. Their styling and elegance are without any doubt, among the bests on the market. However, engineers will have to find a good solution for the drivetrain. The heavy cover on the test mule is hiding the exterior, but it seems like we would like to know more about the engine of 2019 XT4.
2019 Cadillac XT4 Specs, Performance, Engine
So far, we know that 2019 Cadillac XT4 will use a D2XX platform. This concept brings the front-wheel drive. Furthermore, that means a dream of the only RWD crossover in compact class is not ready yet. Nevertheless, the D2XX platform could be upgraded with an all-wheel drive.
Under the hood of Caddy XT4 will probably lay a 2.0-l turbo-four engine. That could be the same one from the Cadillac ATS. With some modifications, it could be a good solution for a crossover. Also, a 2.0-l unit can produce a similar amount of power and torque as the competition offer. In sedan we can find 6- or 8- speed transmissions, while the XT4 SUV is going to use a 9-speed gearbox. This combination will be good for at least 270 hp and 300 pound-feet of torque.
2019 Cadillac XT4 Rendering, Interior
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 seems to be smaller XT5. We believe the crossover hides something special under the heavy camo. But, exterior lines look exactly like on its bigger sibling. Few details we could spot, like headlights and grille, are showing nothing different. On the rear of the vehicle, spy shots unveil vertical taillights and dual exhaust. Finally, Caddy XT4 is going to be a compact urban SUV, so the ground clearance is not so generous.
Cabin
The V-shaped dashboard is something we expect from Cadillac. Touchscreen display and the CUE entertainment system are also something that wouldn’t surprise any fan of this carmaker. Being compact and sporty crossover, the 2019 Cadillac XT4 won’t be so kind to head and legs of taller passengers. However, the Caddy XT5 has more room inside than its competitors, so the same layout is expected by the smaller sibling.
Price
We can compare the XT5 with its competition, so we can do the same with the price of the new Cadillac XT4. A big brother is on par with similar vehicles from Audi and BMW. So, the smaller luxury SUV is not going to be cheaper than $32,000, which is the cost of Audi Q3.
2019 Cadillac XT4 Debut Confirmed for New York Auto Show
The latest reports are informing that 2019 Cadillac XT4 will have a debut in New York. One of the major events in the automotive world is happening in April. Caddy will be there with its new SUV a few days before. XT4 will debut during preview days. That will make this model second in the XT lineup. Later this year and during next season we will see even smaller SUV, the XT. Cadillac will also bring vehicles larger than XT5.
