The German automaker is going to spread its portfolio in upcoming years with the new models of SUVs, and one of them is 2019 BMW X5. The X5 is the middle size luxury crossover that is first time introduced in 1999.

This model is also being the first SUV that featured all-wheel drive released by this popular carmaker.

It can be said that designers have done a great job this time by hiding the robustness of the 2019 BMW X5. With a new look and dimensions, this mid-size SUV looks a lot like the X3 model. Its hood became more muscular and the grid of two parts, characteristic of this model, become bigger with black chrome. Transparency of the road in the dark will be enhanced by additional LED strips around the headlights that retain their aggressive appearance. Furthermore, the best part on the back side is a tailgate with two sections which allows opening only one upper part of the trunk. On the roof will be roof rails that allow the transfer of extra luggage.

The upcoming 2019 BMW X5 will come with five engine options.

The first one is a xDrive40e hybrid with 2.0-liter turbo-4 paired with an electric motor that delivers a total output of 308 horsepower. It comes with EPA city/highway fuel economy of 56 mpge/24 mpg combined.

The second one comes with the models sDrive35i/xDrive35i and has 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 that produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. This model comes with EPA rating EPA city/highway 18/25 mpg for the (RWD) and 18/24 mpg for the (AWD). All engines will have a same slick 8-speed automatic transmission.

The third one is xDrive35d with a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine and 255 horsepower at 413 lb-ft of torque. For this model fuel economy is 24/31 mpg.

However, the fourth one xDrive50i will have powerful V8 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged engine and city/highway fuel economy of 15/21 mpg.

The last one and powerful is X5M variant with twin-turbocharged 4.4 V8 engine and 600 horsepower. The BMW X5 M variant will be released one year after base one model.

2019 BMW X5 Launch Date and Cost

There are no official words about release date and price. But from some news that is circulated over the sites, the new 2019 BMW X5 will get in the production sometime in 2019. We expect a little higher price that has been in predecessor around $56,000.

With great design and performance comes tons rivals, some of the main are Audi Q5, Acura MDX, Lexus RX 350, and Volkswagen Tuareg.

The company will also bring BMW X5 M high-performance model in the near future, more precisely 2020. Furthermore, we also expect other models like X3 M, X4 M and X 6 M by that time. In the current one, this engine delivers 570 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.

The model for 2020 is expected to have little higher horsepower output of around 600. However, we are one hundred percent sure that will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Also, we expect that will company add xDrive system or also known all-wheel drive in this one. The models like X3 M and X4 M will be coming with twin-turbocharged inline-6 engines that make around 450 HP.
